The dealer I worked for had an automated “helper” like that on our website. I was amazed at how many people didn’t realize it was a robot. Like, a scary amount.
It was funny when people got mad after I told them. Like they felt lied to or something....

I mean they were lied to right? I presume your bot pretended to be one or more people? There are some some that admit they’re bots but in most cases people seem to prefer to think they are talking to a person.

Clearly you haven’t visited a car dealer’s website in the last two years. I believe it’s a state law in Illinois that car dealer websites are required to have pop up chat bots - with bonus points for the chat window taking up more than 25% of the screen, and making it as hard as possible to close the window.

I got invited to one of those “VIP sales events” at the local Dodge dealer a few years ago. He asked me what vehicles I am interested in. I gave him two vehicles:
Ram ProMaster City passenger wagon
Challenger Scat Pack with a manual in F8 green
The salesman was so confused.
